According to the legend of Puntan Dos Amantes, the daughter of a prominent Spanish and Chomorran family and her Chomorran lover tied their hair together in a knot and jumped from the high point of the cliffs at Tumon Bay in order to escape her marriage to the son of a powerful and arrogant Spanish captain. The legend instilled a deep reverence for true love by the Chomorron people and led to the point's name.
