American Camp

Much of the southern end of San Juan Island is dominated by American Camp, which is one of the two-part San Juan National Historical Park. Named for the American military encampment here during the Pig War border dispute of the mid-1800s, the park today offers beaches, picnic areas, hiking trails, historic buildings and sweeping views of both the eastern and western sides of the island.
