Mt. Hood Summit

The Mt. Hood summit is the highest point in Oregon. From it, climbers enjoy views of other Cascade peaks, including Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier. The east edge of the summit is an enormous snow cornice with a vertical fall of more than 1,000 feet. A cabin built in 1915 served as a fire lookout on the summit until years of severe weather caused its collapse in 1944.
