Bourbon Street

Ground zero for the city's annual Mardi Gras celebration, Bourbon Street was established in 1722 to honor the ruling French dynasty, the House of Bourbon. By night, the thoroughfare is closed to vehicular traffic to make way for the swarms guzzling ubiquitous Hurricanes, picking pockets or exposing body parts for Mardi Gras beads.
