O'Shaughnessy Dam

This controversial dam was built in the 1920s to create a reservoir supplying drinking water and power to the San Francisco Bay Area. With its creation, the geography of the scenic Hetch Hetchy Valley was changed dramatically. The dam stands more than 400 feet tall.
