Plaza Guadalajara

Immediately in front of the cathedral is the Plaza Guadalajara with its massive fountain. From here, the cathedral's famous twin towers, which replaced those that toppled in the 1818 earthquake, are easily viewed. The plaza is also known as Plaza de los Laureles for the laurel trees planted here.
