Located in the middle of the Tiber River is Tiber Island, once regarded by the Romans as a place of evil. Near the Ponte Cestio bridge stands Basilica San Bartolomeo all'Isola, which dates to the 10th century and is said to contain relics of the biblical apostle Bartholomew.
