Largely unchanged since it was built by Roman emperor Hadrian in the second century A.D., this bridge is lined with sculpted angels that for centuries greeted pilgrims on their way to St. Peter's. Castel Sant'Angelo at the bridge's far end was constructed by Hadrian as a mausoleum.
